Still have some Questions?

[   FAQs   ]

Where do you source your materials?

I primarily source my lumber locally whenever possible. Supporting local businesses and harvesting the beauty of Michigan made lumber is always at the forefront of approaching any given project.

How is the custom ordering process handled?

That depends! I take a great deal of care and pride in ensuring that all customers get the level of communication and understanding that they need in order to feel comfortable doing business. In commissioned pieces that require slab picking however, customers are almost always included in that process if they would like to be. It's very important that my customers are included in the process throughout.

How do I care for my charcuterie and cutting boards?

All boards are initially treated with a 24 hour mineral oil soak along with a coating of board butter to ensure they are ready for long term use. All boards are hand wash only, they should never be placed in the dishwasher. Over time the mineral oil will naturally break down and your board will require additional care. This is a very easy process! Any food grade mineral oil will suffice for use, such as the one linked at the bottom of this section. To apply the oil, simply pour it on a soft cotton cloth, and rub it over the entire piece. Set the piece down for 2-4 hours, at which point the mineral oil should be dried. If it is not simply let it sit for longer. Once the oil has dried, wipe it down with a dry cloth and it will be ready to be used once again!

How do I care for my furniture?

Unless indicated otherwise, all furniture products are finished with Odie's Oil furniture finish. This is used primarily because it is a hard finish containing no VOCs or harmful chemicals, and it is very easy to reapply if needed in the future.
On areas that have surface level scratches - sand down the scratches with a high grit sandpaper, then reapply as directed below. It is recommended to start with a high grit sandpaper (240 grit or higher), and move up as needed if the scratches are deeper. Please keep in mind that you will need to move up to higher grits prior to reapplying if you find yourself needing to move to lower grits (ex. 120 grit > 180 grit > 240 grit > reapply finish)
On areas where the finish has faded - Take a soft white cloth or piece of very fine steel wool (recommended grade #0000), dab a small amount onto it, then rub it into the area that requires treatment, with a small overlap of the newly applied finish going onto existing cured finish. Let the finish sit for 1-2 hours, then wipe off with a soft cloth. Let the area sit for at least 24 hours to cure fully before touching or placing any items on the newly finished area.
